Introduction to Ableism & Allyship: A Disability Education Workshop

Join the conversation about the impact of ableism on the disability community and learn how shifting our perspective allows us to be allies.
During this discussion, we will talk about how historical mistreatment of individuals with disabilities shape our current perspective and bias on disability and how our perspective creates inaccessibility for the disability community. We will learn how to be stronger allies to the disability community by exploring topics such as: the power of language, the impact of our actions, enabling vs empowering, and more. We will navigate real-world scenarios to practice allyship together.
